Mission

Our deepest purpose at Ryan’s Love of Life is to enact positive social change by raising awareness, reducing stigma, and helping individuals and families that are struggling with mental health and/or addiction get the help they need to live a full life.

Vision

Ryan’s Love of Life Foundation envisions a world wherein true acceptance of one another is at the core of our being. We send the clear message that it is okay to struggle, and it is empowered to ask for help. We will work toward increasing accessibility to resources aimed at preventing and treating mental illness and addiction.

  • RLOL raises awareness about diverse clinical interventions and evidence-based treatments that can help individuals and their families who are struggling with mental health and/or addiction.
  • RLOL strives to destigmatize mental health and addiction at the individual, institutional, and societal levels.
  • RLOL provides transportation, treatment, and prescription co -pay scholarships to individuals and their families that are struggling with mental health and/or addiction through our fundraising efforts.

Raise Awareness

Raising awareness about mental health and addiction helps individuals gain a better understanding of what symptoms they are experiencing and where to get help. It also normalizes their experience by sharing with others who experience similar symptoms. Raising awareness about mental health and addiction contributes to a reduction of stigma towards mental health and addiction in our communities.

RLOL hosts virtual and in person community empowerment workshops/series that provide diverse educational and informational content on the benefits of behavioral health treatments that are currently available to treat mental health and addiction in children, adolescents, adults, and families.

Reduce Stigma

Stigma KILLS as it prevents individuals struggling with their mental health and/or addiction from asking for the help they so desperately need. It also prevents families from admitting there is a problem and seeking help themselves and/or supporting their loved one.

In 2021 RLOL started a Ryan’s Love of Life Foundation Volleyball Team that plays in the summer at Manasquan beach with mixed aged players. The RLOL Volleyball Team proudly wears t-shirts to invite conversations about our story. The RLOL social media pages, workshops/series also seek to share content aimed at normalizing the discussions around these sensitive topics.

Help Individuals and Their Families That Struggle with Mental Health and/or Addiction

RLOL will provide scholarships for treatment, transportation, and prescription co -pays to disadvantaged populations so they can access transportation to treatment, mental health and/or addiction treatment and medication assisted treatment (MAT). We also provide resources and referrals to other behavioral health providers.

RLOL hosts fundraising events throughout the year to raise funds to provide treatment, transportation, and prescription co-pay scholarships to help disadvantaged populations get the mental health and/or addiction treatment they need. The funds raised at these events help individuals and/or families get transportation to treatment, which is a common barrier in disadvantaged populations, treatment for mental health and/or substance use disorders, which can be unaffordable for some, and payment of prescription co-pays to support medication assisted treatment compliance. We at RLOL believe that no one should be denied treatment regardless of their ability to pay.

Values

At RLOL we value all people and believe that we all deserve the opportunity to access mental health and addiction treatment. We value people’s experiences and their perceptions of their experiences and want to provide them love, support, and understanding. We value trying to do better every day and paying it forward.
